PayPal Asserts Copyright Ownership Over All Intellectual Property of its Users

Payment processor announces alarming update to terms of agreement
PayPal Asserts Copyright Ownership Over All Intellectual Property of its Users
by Paul Joseph Watson | April 24, 2015

In an alarming new update to its user agreement released this week, PayPal has announced that it will assert copyright ownership over all intellectual property of anyone who uses its payment services.
The update comes in the aftermath of the announcement that eBay and PayPal will split apart into two separate companies.
Under the heading “Intellectual Property,” PayPal announces that it is introducing a new paragraph to its agreement, effective July 1, 2015, that will allow the company to “use content that you post for publication using the Services”.
“When providing us with content or posting content (in each case for publication, whether on- or off-line) using the Services, you grant the PayPal Group a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable (through multiple tiers) right to exercise any and all copyright, publicity, trademarks, database rights and intellectual property rights you have in the content, in any media known now or in the future. Further, to the fullest extent permitted under applicable law, you waive your moral rights and promise not to assert such rights against the PayPal Group, its sublicensees or assignees. You represent and warrant that none of the following infringe any intellectual property right: your provision of content to us, your posting of content using the Services, and the PayPal Group’s use of such content (including of works derived from it) in connection with the Services.”
PayPal users reacted to the terms of agreement update by expressing their shock and confusion.
“Wow! Does this mean that anything I might funnel through Paypal will belong to them, and that they can do what they like with it, without consultation, interference or redress?” asked one respondent. “So, for example, my business website: they could override my copyright if I channel it through them in any of their services?”
“This paragraph really made my hair stand on end,” remarked another Paypal user. “I hope someone better qualified than myself will be along to reassure us soon. Alas, PayPal is a necessary evil in order to do business online but, boy, they do take liberties from their position of power.”
In 2012, some Facebook users began posting status updates asserting that they maintained copyright ownership of the content they posted on the social media network in the mistaken belief that Facebook had claimed permanent ownership of all intellectual property posted on their website.
In reality, Facebook’s own terms stated, “You retain the copyright to your content. When you upload your content, you grant us a license to use and display that content.”
However, the Paypal update, which copyright lawyers have yet to weigh in on, appears to be a lot more draconian and is sure to cause controversy.

War on cash intensifies

by Paul Joseph Watson | April 22, 2015

Some JPMorgan Chase customers are receiving letters informing them that the bank will no longer allow cash to be stored in safety deposit boxes.
The content of a post over on the Collectors Universe message board suggests that we may be about to see a resurgence of the old fashioned method of stuffing bank notes under the mattress.
My mother has a SDB at a Chase branch with one of my siblings as co-signers. Last week they got a letter outlining a number of changes to the lease agreement, including this:
“Contents of the box: You agree not to store any cash or coins other than those found to have a collectible value.”
Another change is that signatures will no longer be accepted to access the box. The next time they go in they have to bring two forms of ID and they will be issued a four-digit pin number that will be used to access the box then and in the future.
The letter, entitled “Updated Safe Deposit Box Lease Agreement,” was sent out to customers at the beginning of the month.
“Hide your wallets, the banksters are on the move,” warns the Economic Policy Journal.
As of last month, Chase has also instituted a new policy which, “restricts borrowers from using cash to make payments on credit cards, mortgages, equity lines, and auto loans,” writes Professor Joseph Salerno of the Mises Institute.
The news arrives on the back of comments by Citi’s Willem Buiter, who recently advocated abolishing cash altogether in order to “solve the world’s central banks’ problem with negative interest rates”.
Last month we also reported on how the Justice Department is ordering bank employees to consider calling the cops on customers who withdraw $5,000 dollars or more.
Efforts to impose restrictions on the use of cash by banks are seen by many as an attack on anonymity and an example of how financial institutions are positioning themselves to handle the fallout of the next economic crash – at the expense of customers.
According to reports which emerged last year, HSBC is now interrogating its account holders in the UK on how they earn and spend their money as well as restricting large cash withdrawals for customers from £5000 upwards.
Banks in the U.S. are also making it harder for customers to withdraw and deposit cash, with Chase imposing new capital controls that mandate identification for cash deposits and ban cash being deposited into another person’s account.
In October 2013, we also covered policy changes instituted by Chase which banned international wire transfers while restricting cash activity for business customers (both deposits and withdrawals) to a $50,000 limit per statement cycle.
Last month, French Finance Minister Michel Sapin hailed the introduction of measures set to come into force in September which will restrict French citizens from making cash payments over €1,000 euros.

Automakers Want to Outlaw Gearheads From Working on Their Own Cars

Car companies seek copyright restrictions to stop car enthusiasts, home mechanics
Automakers Want to Outlaw Gearheads From Working on Their Own Cars
by Kit Daniels | Infowars.com | April 20, 2015

Claiming that modern vehicles are “too complex” for home mechanics to fix, automakers are seeking copyright restrictions to prevent gearheads from working on their own cars.
The Association of Global Automakers, a lobbying firm for 12 manufacturers, is asking the U.S. Copyright Office to prevent car owners from accessing “computer programs that control the functioning of a motorized land vehicle, including personal automobiles, commercial motor vehicles, and agricultural machinery, for purposes of lawful diagnosis and repair, or aftermarket personalization, modification, or other improvement.
“In order to modify automotive software for the purpose of ‘diagnosis and repair, or aftermarket personalization, modification, or other improvement,’ the modifier must use a substantial amount of the copyrighted software – copying the software is at issue after all, not wholly replacing it,” the AGA claimed. “Because the ‘heart,’ if not the entirety, of the copyrighted work will remain in the modified copy, the amount and substantiality of the portion copied strongly indicates that the proposed uses are not fair.”
Auto Alliance, which also represents 12 automobile manufacturers, is also asking the agency to scrap exemptions to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act that allow car enthusiasts to modify and tune their rides.
“Allowing vehicle owners to add and remove [electronic control] programs at whim is highly likely to take vehicles out of compliance with [federal] requirements, rendering the operation or re-sale of the vehicle legally problematic,” Auto Alliance claimed in a statement. “The decision to employ access controls to hinder unauthorized ‘tinkering’ with these vital computer programs is necessary in order to protect the safety and security of drivers and passengers and to reduce the level of non-compliance with regulatory standards.” But people have been working on their own cars since cars were invented. “It’s not a new thing to be able to repair and modify cars,” a staff attorney with the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Kit Walsh, said. “It’s actually a new thing to keep people from doing it.” Interestingly, this attack on the do-it-yourself auto hobby coincides with the current push towards self-driving cars, and who do you think will resist autonomous cars the most? Auto hobbyists, such as hot rodders, drag racers and home tuners. “The biggest threat to our hobby is those people in powerful situations who’s idea of a great day out in their car is to spend it riding in the back seat while someone else handles the driving ‘chore’ for them,” a hot rodder said on the subject. “These are the same people who will ban ‘old junk’ from the roads, enforce ’50 miles per gallon’ standards on new, and then older vehicles, and eventually force everyone to drive ‘standardized’ cars that will fit precisely in parking spaces, take up the minimum space on public roads, and follow all the ‘environmentally friendly’ buzz words while boring real car drivers like us to death.” And the first step to keep people from behind the steering wheel is to keep them from opening the hood. World Famous Photographer: Morbid Obesity is ‘Beautiful’

Why is the establishment press promoting the body image of morbid obesity as normal?
World Famous Photographer: Morbid Obesity is 'Beautiful'
by Paul Joseph Watson | April 17, 2015

World famous photographer Yossi Loloi is railing against commonly accepted ideas of feminine attraction by photographing morbidly obese women as part of what he calls the “Full Beauty” project.
Loloi claims that these images are “a form of protest against discrimination set by media and by today’s society”.
Yet this “beauty” project been given positive press by Newsweek, Marie Claire, the Huffington Post and numerous other mainstream publications.
Why is the establishment press promoting the body image of morbid obesity as normal, acceptable, and even something to be encouraged? What kind of message is this sending to young women? Just like anorexia, morbid obesity is directly linked with numerous chronic health conditions. You don’t see anorexia being promoted as a positive lifestyle choice, and rightly so, so why on earth is being severely overweight now portrayed as something to aspire to? And why on the flip side do we see healthy eating now being labeled a mental disorder? Why do we see women who encourage fitness being publicly shamed and attacked in the media? Meanwhile, feminists are whining about advertisers creating “sexist” commercials for attractive healthy beach bodies, while they simultaneously promote morbid obesity as trendy and progressive. Which is the better message about body image to send out to young women? I don’t really care if you’re overweight, and I’m not encouraging that fat people be bullied or verbally abused. But to describe morbid obesity as “beauty” is crazy. As I document in my previous video, ‘The Truth About Fat Shaming’ – fat pride activists are now even being given their own TV shows. Meanwhile, people who criticize morbid obesity are being reported to the police for hate crimes. Last month, obesity expert Dr Sarah Jackson told the Daily Mail that fat shaming should be made illegal and that mocking the obese should be on a par with sexism and racism. Loloi believes that by venerating obesity he is challenging the “dictatorship of esthetics”. But the only dictatorial behavior is being exhibited by fat pride activists, some of whom would rather see critics of their lifestyle arrested than them being forced to address the fact that they’re grossly overweight, and need to do something about it. Fat people now even suing airlines for not providing large enough seats and demanding doors be made wider. The rest of society must be coerced to conform to their whims – so who’s acting like the dictatorial bully here? Sharing this authoritarian zeal to silence free speech, intersectional feminists have embraced the fat pride movement, pushing a lifestyle that is incredibly harmful to women, and encouraging them to languish in a state of perpetual victimhood. And notice how obese men are nowhere to be seen – you only ever see women. That’s because top feminists like Naomi Wolf believe that men being attracted to normal sized, fertile, pretty women is a grand conspiracy crafted by the evil western patriarchy, the beauty and cosmetics industry. According to them it has nothing whatsoever to do with the manifestly provable scientific fact that men are sexually attracted to women based on the hip to waist ratio. The smaller the waist, the more desirable the woman. But feminists don’t like science. They think basic biological reality is sexist and misogynistic. “I believe there are several ways to what is perceived as beauty, it is not measurable and has not got a standard size,” claims Loloi. Well yes it clearly is measurable and we know that from scientific studies which proved that women of 5ft 5in weighing more than 150lb were “unattractive” to men. Why is our culture promoting ugliness and ill health? Why is the establishment media and sections of the art world labeling obesity as “beauty”? If this was just some obscure group of artists or tumblr social justice warriors then fine, but this is now being endorsed from the very top. This is about the tyranny of elevating people’s feelings, their victimhood mentality, and their obsession with not being offended – over and above basic fundamental health concerns, scientific reality, and the perfectly normal and rational response to be repelled by the sight of morbid obesity. This is about the morbidly obese shirking responsibility and pointing the finger of blame at society and the bogeyman of the evil patriarchy for a problem that they refuse to deal with due to their own laziness, self-entitlement and delusion.

National Guard Blocks Infowars Reporters From Covering Dirty Bomb Exercise

Captain cites "nature" of previous work as reason for denial
National Guard Blocks Infowars Reporters From Covering Dirty Bomb Exercise
by Paul Joseph Watson | April 10, 2015

The California National Guard has blocked Infowars reporters Joe Biggs and Jakari Jackson from attending a dirty bomb exercise set to take place tomorrow in Richmond, with one official citing the “nature” of their work as the reason.
041015email
In an email to Joe Biggs, Capt. Will Martin, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the California Military Department, made clear that Biggs and Jackson would be refused access due to the content of their previous reporting.
“Upon reviewing your body of work, the California Military Department has chosen to decline you and Jakari Jackson media access to the emergency-response exercise involving the California National Guard on April 11, 2015, in Richmond, California,” states the email.
“The nature of your work and the media programs in which you regularly participate (e.g. The Alex Jones Show) are consistently conspiratorial and inflammatory in nature. Therefore, we hold little confidence that granting you access to the exercise would result in a fair and responsible report for your audience.”
Martin is essentially saying that only media outlets who put a positive spin on the exercise or who regurgitate National Guard talking points will be allowed to cover the drill.
It’s not the National Guard’s place to decide what constitutes a “fair and responsible” report on their activities. America is supposed to have something called the First Amendment and freedom of the press. The U.S. military does not have control over the Fourth Estate.
The Guard’s refusal to allow Infowars to report on the exercise will only prompt further skepticism as to why they’re so afraid of the dirty bomb drill being covered by independent media.
The exercise will include, “more than 200 soldiers, airmen, local law enforcement and firefighting personnel” who “will descend upon the city in order to defuse the situation,” reports the Richmond Standard.
The drill will also involve the California National Guard’s 49th Military Police Brigade, which is home to FEMA’s Region IX Homeland Response Force (HRF).
The exercise is one of many upcoming military drills which some fear are being used to acclimate the public to martial law should troops ever be used to patrol the streets in the event of a national emergency or civil unrest.
Jade Helm, a “realistic” military training exercise involving nine states, which will involve the Green Berets, Navy Seals, and the 82nd Airborne Division and is set to take place from July 15-Sepember 15, has prompted concerns after Texas and Utah were labeled “hostile” territory in documents related to the exercise.

Toxins Harming Your Brain Right Now
Common toxins continue to plague countless Americans
by Dr. Edward Group | Infowars.com | April 11, 2015

Some of the most common substances found in everyday life are harming our cognitive function right now. Along with pesticides, you have substances like BPA, phthalates, mercury, lead, benzene, and flame retardants that are affecting you, even if you don’t realize it. Hidden in your home and office, you are exposed to toxic chemicals on a daily basis, and your brain is taking the brunt of it.
7 Toxins Harming Your Brain
Your brain controls every aspect of your body, giving directions to cells and the nervous system. It is essential for supporting good mood and clear thinking, helping to improve your overall quality of life. Here are seven of the most harmful and pervasive toxins you should look out for in order to support brain health.
1. BPA
BPA is a known endocrine disruptor that interferes with how your body regulates hormones. Not only does it affect reproductive health, but it can also affect brain function, learning abilities, and how your memory works. [1] And it’s not just plastic that contains BPA; items that are BPA free aren’t always much better. The substitutes used for BPA (Bisphenol F and S or “BPF” and “BPS”) have been linked to behavioral issues, as well. [2] 2. Phthalates Phthalates are present in more everyday things than you might think. Similarly to BPA, phthalates are found in many products that contain plastic and things like household cleaners, cosmetics, personal hygiene products, and even food. There is a wide variety of phthalates, but the most notable versions are BBzP (butyl benzyl phthalate), DnBP (dibutyl phthalate), and DEHB (di-2-ethyl hexyl phthalate). Phthalates have been linked to ADHD, asthma, diabetes, neurodevelopmental problems, and more. [3] California is spearheading the move against phthalates by asking that four specific types must be listed on labels (many do not have to be listed at all). Even big corporations like Target and WalMart have promised to reduce the amount of or even eradicate the use of harmful toxins like phthalates in products they stock. 3. Mercury I’ve covered the dangers of mercury extensively in other articles. The base reason is that it has been linked to kidney problems, respiratory failure, and other neuromuscular complications; however, the elemental form of mercury is the most toxic. [4] Due to this knowledge, many people have switched off from thermometers and other products containing mercury. 4. Lead Lead poisoning isn’t a problem of yesterday, it’s a problem today — a huge problem. The biggest issue is that lead affects so many parts of the body in such harmful ways. Not only can it affect organs and tissues, but it can affect whole systems of the body like the digestive, reproductive, and nervous systems. You absolutely need to take conscious steps to reduce your exposure to lead, including making your home safer for your children. 5. Benzene Benzene is found in fuel and motor vehicle exhaust, but can also be found in detergents and pharmaceuticals. [5] Why is something so problematic used so frequently? Benzene is even classified as carcinogen, [6] it’s highly flammable, and benzene poisoning can pass from mother to fetus. The best way to reduce your exposure to benzene is to distance yourself from gasoline or waste plants and to avoid cigarette smoke at all costs. As quoted by the CDC, “Average smokers take in about 10 times more benzene than nonsmokers each day.” [7] Just one more reason not to smoke! 6. Flame Retardants Normally, something that helps to quell a fire is heralded as useful and sometimes heroic. However, a disturbing discovery was made by a researcher from Texas. The discovery showed that flame retardants were found in the breast milk of American women. [8] How could this happen? It turns out that flame retardants can be found virtually anywhere in food, furniture, and building materials. We’re around these items every day and breathe in the toxins that emanate throughout the day. Attributed to the spread of human civilization, it’s unbelievable just how widespread traces of flame retardant chemicals are. Not even bald eagles are safe. Out of 33 dead eagles tested from 2009 to 2011, every one but two had all four flame retardant components for which scientists were testing. [9] It’s important to educate yourself about flame retardant compounds and make sure they’re not abundant in your home. [10] 7. Pesticides Mostly everyone is familiar with the negative effects of pesticides, but new developments further strengthen the argument against using pesticides on foods we consume. Perhaps the biggest and most shocking development to come to light is that pesticide exposure is now linked to Parkinson’s disease. [11] The best way to avoid undue exposure to pesticides is to choose organic food! Protecting Your Brain Now that you’re a bit more informed about seven toxins you might not have known about before, you can get started on protecting yourself from the harmful effects, both short term and long term. Turmeric shows powerful antioxidant protection for the brain, and it’s often advised to take this in extract form to ensure best results. Eating an organic diet, reducing the use of furniture made with flame retardants, and using glass containers instead of plastic are also helpful steps. Victim of Castro Round-ups ‘Worried Immensely’ About Jade Helm

Concerns sparked by Fort Lauderdale video of troops interning citizens
Victim of Castro Round-ups 'Worried Immensely' About Jade Helm
by Paul Joseph Watson | April 3, 2015

A victim of Fidel Castro’s mass round-ups of dissidents in Cuba has expressed alarm about the upcoming Jade Helm exercise, writing that he is ‘worried immensely’ about the military drill set to take place in nine U.S. states this summer.
In a letter to the editor of the Corvallis Gazette-Times, Larry Daley remarks that he was shocked to see video out of Fort Lauderdale which features military and police training together to arrest citizens and take them to internment facilities.
“It has been more than 55 years since 1961 and the Castro-ordered round up suspected resistors in Cuba. According to some press reports in excess of 200,000 were arrested during the Bay of Pigs,” writes Daley.
“My youngest sister and I were arrested and taken to improvised holding facilities. We ended up in the huge Blanquita Theater. We tried to sleep under lights on the theater seats for days on end. There were bodies on the floor. The sanitary facilities overflowed with sewage.”
His memories were stirred after reading about Jade Helm, a “realistic” military training exercise, which will involve the Green Berets, Navy Seals, and the 82nd Airborne Division, and is set to take place from July 15-Sepember 15.
Some fear that the drill is an escalation of preparations for martial law in America, plans for which have been in place for decades. During the exercise, troops will operate “undetected amongst civilian populations,” to see if they can infiltrate without being noticed.
The issue attracted controversy after Texas and Utah were labeled “hostile” territory in documents related to the exercise.
“That horror is still with me,” writes Daley, referring to his internment under Castro, adding, “Now I hear of operation Jade Helm. I read the official denials of such intent here, but I also saw a horrendous video shot in Fort Lauderdale, Florida purporting to show this training.”
“I worry immensely,” he concludes.
Mainstream media coverage of Jade Helm has poured scorn on concerns about the exercise and merely regurgitated Army talking points that the drill is purely designed to prepare troops for overseas combat.
However, that scenario has also prompted speculation as to whether the exercise represents a simulated invasion of the Middle East.
An analysis of the drill highlighted how the “hostile” states of Texas, Utah and a pocket of southern California could easily be transposed onto a map of the Middle East to represent Iran, Syria and Palestine, with other “friendly” states representing Turkey, Jordan and Israel.

The Hypocrisy Behind the Iran Nuclear Agreement

Few mention U.S. use of nukes on civilians and Israel's stockpile of bombs
The Hypocrisy Behind the Iran Nuclear Agreement
by Kurt Nimmo | Infowars.com | April 3, 2015

Following the nuclear deal reached in Switzerland, The New York Times editorial board said the “preliminary agreement between Iran and the major powers is a significant achievement that makes it more likely Iran will never be a nuclear threat.”
The Times is the crown jewel of establishment propaganda, so it stands to reason it would mangle the truth to fit the agenda. Its editorial board continues:
There is good reason for skepticism about Iran’s intentions. Although it pledged not to acquire nuclear weapons when it ratified the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty in 1970, it pursued a secret uranium enrichment program for two decades. By November 2013, when serious negotiations with the major powers began, Iran was enriching uranium at a level close to bomb-grade.
Iran has thus far enriched uranium at 20 percent. It takes 90 percent highly enriched uranium to produce a nuclear weapon.
Obama Administration Admits Iran Not Developing Nuclear Weapon
Following the success of the Joint Plan of Action to curb Iran’s nuclear program last year, Secretary of State John Kerry said:
Since its implementation, Iran has complied with its obligations to neutralize its stockpile of 20 percent enriched uranium; cap its stockpile of 5 percent enriched uranium; not install advanced centrifuges; not install or test new components at its Arak reactor; and submit to far more frequent inspections of its facilities.
“Iran will further reduce the capacity of that enriched uranium to be used by turning it into fuel for the research reactor, which makes it almost impossible to be used in a weapon,” Kerry told Fox News. “In addition, we have inspectors in their facilities every single day. In addition to that, they have not been able to move forward on the Arak plutonium heavy water reactor.” The Obama administration admitted that a quarter of the 20 percent enriched uranium oxide would be converted into fuel plates for the Tehran Research Reactor. The conversion will make it difficult and time consuming for Iran to use 20 percent enriched uranium for the further enrichment required for a bomb. In December, the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, said “Iran was not enriching uranium above a fissile concentration of 5 percent, far below the 90 percent level needed for atomic arms. It also said Iran had not made ‘any further advances’ to its activities at two enrichment facilities and an unfinished heavy water reactor,” according to Reuters.
U.S. and Israel More of a Threat than Iran
Despite the reality of Iran’s fledgling nuclear program, the United States and Israel continue to insist the third world nation is a threat. Following the agreement in Switzerland on Thursday, the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said the deal will “threaten the survival of Israel” and would “increase the risks of nuclear proliferation in the region and the risks of a horrific war.” “I want to make clear to all,” Netanyahu continued. “The survival of Israel is non-negotiable. Israel demands that any final agreement with Iran will include a clear and unambiguous Iranian recognition of Israel’s right to exist.” Netanyahu’s remarks reveal what the real agenda is — making certain Israel is the only state in the Middle East to possess nuclear weapons and also forcing neighboring Arab countries and Persian Iran to officially accept the Israeli state despite objections to its treatment of Palestinians and its antagonistic relationship with its neighbors (in particular Lebanon which Israel invaded on five different occasions). As Warren Mass notes, the threat posed by Iran is at best negligible. “One wonders if the reason the big powers like to push Iran around so much is precisely because they have such a weak military,” he writes. “China is estimated to have about 250 nuclear warheads, yet there is no call to impose sanctions on that communist tyranny. Maybe because it also has a military of more than two million active and two million reserve personnel, almost 5,000 armored fighting vehicles, almost 3,000 aircraft, and more than 500 naval vessels.” Iran has not attacked another nation in over 500 years, although it was attacked with the blessing of the United States by Saddam Hussein’s Iraq and has suffered economic sanctions imposed by the United States and Europe — tantamount to a declaration of war — since the Iranian revolution in 1979.
U.S. the Only Nation to Use Nuclear Bombs
Finally, there is only one nation that has used nuclear weapons — the United States. The Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bombings targeted civilians and killed nearly 130,000 of them. In total, the U.S. has about 4,800 nuclear warheads, including tactical, strategic, and non-deployed weapons. Russia has 1,643 strategic warheads. China, France, the United Kingdom, India and Pakistan all have under 300 each. If not for a disgruntled nuclear technician, Mordechai Vanunu, we would probably not know about Israel’s nuclear program. It is estimated Israel has 200 or more nuclear weapons, but it is difficult to determine the actual number since Israel denies it has developed nuclear weapons. “In the Arab world and beyond, there is growing impatience with the skewed nuclear status quo,” writes Julian Borger. “Egypt in particular has threatened to walk out of the NPT unless there is progress towards creating a nuclear-free zone in the Middle East. The western powers promised to stage a conference on the proposal in 2012 but it was called off, largely at America’s behest, to reduce the pressure on Israel to attend and declare its nuclear arsenal.”
